Remember that the best way to get the highest traffic through your home at one time, is to put your home on show!
Here is a list of useful tips of things to think about when you decide to sell your home and put it on show.
- Lock away all your valuables i.e. jewelry, perfumes, laptops etc.
- Get rid of clutter – don’t stuff it away, rather sell or donate it to the poor.
- Dirt is a turnoff – check behind furniture, light fittings, skirting’s, under cupboards & beds etc.
- Take pets out for the day or put them in the kennel for the day.
- Clean stains off carpeting and upholstery.
- Repaint wherever necessary, indoors and out.
- Repair anything broken.
- Polish up the floors
- Spruce up the cupboards with new paper and freshener, clean and tidy well.
- Invest in one set of new “showday” towels.
- Attach a new brass number on your garden wall.
- Replace any broken handrails, doorknobs or door handles.
- Put 2 beautiful pot plants inside, or by the front door.
- Clean out all storage space – make it look like there’s plenty of space and fresh air.
- Open and clean all windows / fix broken windows
- Dust the ceiling and all the corners, skirtings and pelmets.
- Add the homely touch – the smell of muffins, chocolates on the coffee table, play soft music, fruit & biscuits on the kitchen counter.
- Put out fresh flowers, fresh soap and spray all the rooms.
- Replace broken light bulbs / light fittings and plugs
- Put away the washing from the washing line
- Make all beds
- Clean dirty toilets / broken toilet seats / rings in the bath
- Wash and put away all dirty dishes in the kitchen
- Mow your garden, get rid of dead plants and cut back overgrown plants
- Keep the space as light as possible by opening curtains and putting lights on
