Fun things to do at HOME with kids these holiday's!
Category News
There is no question that investing some precious free time in your kids is essential to their growth and development, but it also means they are more likely to be less demanding of your time when you need to work if they feel like they are getting some valuable input the rest of the time.
Here are some fun holiday ideas to keep them occupied this festive season, and make a happy home environment for all!
- Bake cupcakes or make homemade pizza – it’s never too soon to get them in the kitchen.
- Do something out of YOUR comfort zone; let them teach you how to play a game on the iPad, or paint your toenails for you (this counts for Dads too!).
- Make a fort under the table and read a book together.
- Cut up your old necklaces and make some new beads together.
- Get kids to keep a holiday diary, even if it’s just a picture a day, or write a short story that you will help them act out. Get their creativity flowing!
- Have a theme day. This may be butterflies, pirates, princesses, fairies, dinosaurs, or a particular colour.
- Make an inside obstacle course with cushions, pillows, boxes, chairs and blankets.
- Make “Secret Santa” boxes of old toys or clothes for less-fortunate kids.
- Write a letter together to someone, maybe a friend, teacher, or distant relative.
- Go camping in the backyard and teach your kids to build a fire, and respect it.
- Plants veggies, even in window boxes, or grow an avocado from a pip.
- Play with glurp. Simply mix cornstarch with water and a drop of food colouring if you wish. Warning: Make this an “outside” experiment!
