Valentine’s Day is a week away and time is running tight to find the perfect Valentine’s gift for him or her. While the shops display all the usual Teddy Bears, diamond jewelry, and boxes of chocolates, perhaps it’s time to make this Valentine’s a little more special with something different. Spend some time thinking about your partner and what makes them tick. 1. Spend Quality Time
Spend time together, sleeping in together, cooking together is a wonderful way to get that quality time. Try to do something that you used to do before, when your relationship was new and fresh. If you can’t take the time off work, moving Valentine’s Day to the weekend before or after will give you the same quality time.
2. Reasons Why
Write down a list of reasons why you love your partner, one reason for every month you’ve been together. Not only will this show them all the reasons why you love them, but it will show remind you why you first fell in love and all the great things about them that you love.
3. Make Valentine’s Last the Whole Year
Time with your partner shouldn’t be condensed into one day a year, so make the day last all year. Give your significant other 12 small jars with a different date night idea in each. On the 14th of every month, open a jar and see what kind of date you’ll be going on. You can put a little chocolate in each of the jars to keep the Valentine’s feeling.
4. Thoughtful Gifts
Have a look through all the photographs with the two of you and create a collage of the happiest moments you’ve shared. This can be a framed collage of actual photographs for the living room, or for a more tech-savvy approach, create a PowerPoint with automatic timed transitions which can be saved as a desktop background.
5. A Tapas Picnic
This will allow you to get creative with where to enjoy your romantic picnic. Get a few of your favourite types of food and set up a picnic, enjoy sitting on the kitchen counter, on the grass under the stars or go back to a childhood favourite, inside a pillow fort.
No matter what your Valentine’s Day plans, make sure to spend time with your special someone and let them know how much you love them. An expensive gift doesn’t have to be your only option this year, quality time is always a loved gift and will give you two happy memories for years to come.
