In this month of July, Homes of Distinction is supporting both the Princess Alice Adoption Home and the Animal Ambulance.
We will be visiting Animal Ambulance on the 18th of July for our 67 Minutes of service, you are welcome to join our cause or help by making a donation:
The Princess Alice Adoption Home (http://www.princessalice.org.za/)
provides "a temporary place of safety which provides 24 hour residential care to babies who have been consented for adoption, abandoned or occasionally removed from family care".
It is also a safe haven for a limited number of "pregnant girls who are destitute or in crisis" who will receive antenatal care and support throughout the birth process. If they choose to have their babies adopted, these girls are given counselling and are guided through the adoption process.
The Princess Alice Adoption Home needs:
- Nappies (graded brands, sizes newborn to 5)
- Dis-Chem vouchers
- Baby toiletries & nutrition
- Over-the-counter medicines
- Groceries & cleaning products
- Household items
- Office supplies
- Maintenance needs
- Age appropriate toys and clothing
Animal Ambulance (http://www.animalambulance.co.za/)
is a registered non profit organisation providing "24hr emergency shelter for sick and abused animals" which depends entirely on donations from private individuals and fundraising events.
Whilst at the shelter, the animals are treated as pets - as part of the family - as they are not caged or kept outdoors and all the adult dogs are sterilized.
When rehabilitated, these "pets" are then offered up for adoption in exchange for a fee.
