On Sunday 18 July, Homes of Distinction set off in high spirits to devote our 67 minutes for Mandela Day to Animal Ambulance in Pretoria.
Animal Ambulance www.animalambulance.co.za is one of our chosen charities to support in 2020. Being a 24 hour emergency centre, they are a godsend to those sick and abused animals under their care: being dogs,cats and farm animals, +- 300 animals. Please support them if you can.
After handing over our donations of brooms, mops, rakes and other most needed gifts which were warmly welcomed and received, it was time to get to "work".
We spent a most enjoyable morning there playing and making friends with some of the current residents, clearing, sweeping and cleaning their pens, We also helped prepare for feeding time by chopping and cutting up an assortment of vegetables, and then watching the feeders guzzle it all up, literally "making pigs of themselves"!
What an experience!
It was such fun, so rewarding and a real education to see how much attention, love and kindness AA dedicates to providing a loving temporary home for these animals and by giving them a second chance at a happy, healthy life.
We loved every minute of our time spent at AA and were pleased with our efforts and modest contribution to such a great charitable organisation.
Thank you, Animal Ambulance, for allowing us to spend time with you and for all that you so willingly do for abandoned and abused animals. We commend you!
