A carbo-based metabolic diet recommends fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Protein sources are limited and typically come from plant-based sources like tofu, tempeh, and beans.

The mixed type of metabolic diet is a combination of the protein and carbo types. This diet focuses on eating balanced macronutrients to optimise metabolism and supports overall health.

Foods recommended on a mixed-type metabolic diet include lean meats, fish, eggs, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. The goal is to eat a balance of protein, carbohydrates, and fat to keep your hormones in check and promote weight loss.
 

Will these diets work for everyone?

While metabolic diets can be effective for some people, they are not a one-size-fits-all solution.
