Plan a stress-free move!

Category Home Buying/Selling Tips

They say moving is one of the top 3 most stressful events that can happen in your life – moving, getting divorced and financial stress. Sometimes with a move all 3 are lumped together!
We have complied a list of things to remember to help you get through this stressful time:
  1. Move on a Thursday or mid week
  2. Allow yourself two extra days plus the weekend to get the boxes unpacked.
  3. Label boxes well
! When you get to the other side and desperately need coffee make sure you know which box has the coffee and sugar and which box has the cups.  Unpack the essential boxes first.
  4. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes.
Don’t be tempted to look good, comfort is imperative to agile movability.
  5. Estate Agent’s see this often.
Ask your estate agent for advice, they have a wealth of knowledge and tips to better your experience
  6. Traffic Control
! The moving guys know that the quicker they get all your boxes in the quicker they can leave, so make sure you are directing furniture and boxes to the right rooms. It will make life easier and don’t be tempted to unpack while the movers are still there.
  7. Truck Size
. With Estate and Complex restrictions on truck size make sure you find out what size truck is coming and what is allowed in the estate. Also get the truck cleared on both sides to avoid time delays!
  8. Pack a cooler box and lunch that you can snack on throughout the day.
  9. Friends & Family...choose willing family members very carefully, the last thing you need is anyone to get in your way. Choose someone who relaxes you and can take control without stepping on your toes.
  10. Lastly, remember to breathe…it will be over before you know it.
