Who said "keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars"?
2023 has finally come to a close if you can believe it, and we're once again winding down for the festive season. We look forward to relaxing and recharging, seeing friends and family, connecting with those who matter most and preparing for what lies before us.
While facing numerous challenges throughout the year, our experiences as a company and a team have equipped us with valuable lessons and insights to be well-prepared for 2024.
It's important to emphasise that the basic principles of success remain constant-providing excellent service to our clients and fulfilling your promises... timeless practices that never go out of fashion. Indeed, they have served us immeasurably well this year, setting us apart as a nationally recognised brand and opening new horizons for the future.
These tried and tested basics remain integral to our success, serving as a solid foundation and maintaining a steady course.
A 2023 Property Retrospective
Many will remember listening to Casey Kasem, a well-known television and radio personality active from the late 50s to 2013, who used to close each America's Top 40 show by saying, "Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars."
This simple yet powerful adage advises staying grounded, humble, and connected to reality while simultaneously aspiring for ambitious goals and dreams. This simple saying underscores the importance of maintaining a practical mindset and never letting our challenges overcome us.
Reflecting on the property market in 2023, there's no doubt we've encountered more than a few curved balls with high inflation, loadshedding, and economic stagnation, and it's no surprise to anyone that buyers have become more cautious.
Regardless of the outcome, we will emerge with our feet planted firmly on the ground.
Season's Greetings
I would like to extend my gratitude to each and every one of you for your support in 2023. Amid these industry trials, it brings me immense joy to witness our industry continue to remain steadfast.
Many years ago, French writer Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr wrote, "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose " - the more things change, the more they stay the same...a reminder to stay firm on the basics of doing what's right, always
Warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. May your holidays be filled with love and laughter, and the coming year unfold with joy and success. Looking forward to seeing you in 2024 with a fresh, new, positive start.
Take care,
Jonathan Broekman
