The Industrial Look - by Bruce Rayne

Category Interior Design

Industrial interior design has been growing in popularity with the functionality of certain pieces being in perfect harmony with the way they look. Many houses and buildings will try to hide away elements like exposed brickwork, metal and piping. However, bringing out these elements and using them as a concept for your home's interior is what makes the industrial style look so unique.

I have been amazed by the creativity used in this design style, as certain elements that were initially thought to be for warehouses or back rooms, have been incorporated into some of the best interiors.

When aiming for an industrial look in your home, you will want to include finishes of wood, metal, brick, and concrete. And the elements can look rough, polished, finished or incomplete. A keen eye will be able to tie the room together and create a truly remarkable space.

The look brings on elements like metal light fittings, exposed light bulbs, raw concrete walls, exposed brick, warehouse light fittings, subway tiles, wooden furniture elements and exposed copper piping.

The concept of industrial is to look past the skin of a house and showcase the underlying beauty and technology it represents. It presents the home's character and personality in a raw fashion and can be appreciated as a timeless style which will never cease to age.
